Learn How to Play Piano

Hey there! My name is Andrew Furmanczyk, this is my Piano Academy. How to Play Piano I’m a piano teacher in real life, and I think people around the world should be able to have access to information that will teach them how to play the piano for themselves.  There are no fees, or anything expected. I’m personally sick of the quick “play piano overnight” schemes. So I’m just a practical guy helping people learn how to play piano!

This all started on youtube, so if you click on the Video tab there will be all my video lessons on how to play piano.  There’s also a forum so that we can become a community of people learning how to play piano together! You could start a topic or discussion about a certain area in playing the piano. Everyone can share their knowledge so that we all learn something new.

If there is something that’s not covered you can always ask me a question about whatever is confusing you. You might also want to subscribe to my channel on youtube so you can be updated with my new lessons as soon as they come out!

Wrapping it all up, this place is can be your one stop site for learning how to play piano, without having to pay anything, or commit to it in any serious way. If learning how to play piano is something you’ve always wanted to do, or maybe you’re just curious what it’s all about. This place is for you! ^_^ My goal is to take anything that could be complicated, and make it easy and clear to understand.  Enjoy yourselves!

If  you need to buy a piano, I have a list of recommended pianos.

And have fun learning how to play piano!

I think what your doing with this website and youtube is beyond amazing! im 21 years old, and I’ve always had a passion to play some musical intrsment, flute and clarinet were never my thing, but piano is something I’ve always wanted to learn. I have short fingers and a short patience but your videos really help me you have a great way of explaining things. Also not to mention I am a little broke, and paying 60 dollars an hour for a piano lesson just cant work for me!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU truly are an amazing teacher!

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for this videos! I am a disabled guy with motoric problems, so my fingers are moving much harder, than normal.
But I like music, and writting small melodies with mouse on computer just for fun. Recently I bought a midi keyboard for this. Than I thought what if I try playing in the normal way. I did not want to take lessons from real teacher, because of my special condition. Then I find your videos and helped me a lot! Very slowly, but I am progressing! it IS fun :)
    Thanks again!

  • Denisha:

Thank you for your informative lessons. I haven’t found any other piano tutorials like yours for free. I am sixteen and I have started a few weeks ago. I feel like I’ll be an expert in a good two years. I already know a great deal about the piano just with the first three lessons.
Thanks a lot (from New England),
    Denisha

  • Denisha:

when i become a famous rock star and i win my MTV award, I will remember you! (I will! I Will!) Can you see it? “And I’m so proud to have this award. I just want to thank God. And my parents. And a guy named Andrew…” But Really I’m into opera. So learning piano is key. (For rehearsals of the arias.)But I’m still young (and have been fortunate enough to find you) so you might very well see me on MTV.
God Bless you angel (from that New Englander again)

  • Erica Martin:

    Hi Andrew,

I am so happy that I found you on youtube.com. I have always wanted to learn how to play the piano, but just couldn’t afford to pay for the lessons. I used to play the flute when I was in the 7th grade, but I dropped the class after two years.

I am actually learning to play the piano, and I am so thankful and excited. I can see myself playing the piano with two hands in the very near future! I write Christian lyrics and can put vocal melody to my songs, but have not been able to apply any instrumental to them. For years, I had been praying and asking the Lord to help me learn to play the piano, and to provide the resources to take lessons. God is always faithful! I’m looking forward to Lesson #4.

God Bless you for your generous and caring heart.

    Thank you.

    Erica Martin

    Hello,

I just want to say its amazing and touching how people like you are so willing to share such precious things with everyone. I must really say it must be a blessing or any student who comes under you. I am sure any young student who starts training under you will become a great pianist. I started learning piano when i was young but my teacher was not very good and my skills are not good either. The video lessons you have uploaded are unmistakably the essence of piano playing and music which I only have the luck to chance upon these knowledge it in your teachings. Those are really really important and I just want to thank you for making such a big difference to the community and you are really an incredible man.

    Yours truly,
    Ser Gin

  • Carlton Ahdween:

Hi Andrew. I wanted to thank you for putting up the vids on youtube. You’re a great teacher, and piano player. You have a gift, taking your time, being very detailed, while moving the lessons along. You never make the viewer feel Out of his or her league. I am a bedroom beatmaker using Kontakt 4 sampling software and want to learn more about chords to make my beats sound more professional. Are you going to make a dvd? I would shure buy it if you did. Please

  • Being a musician and pianist myself I appreciate a resource like yours. I haven’t played for some time and miss music. Thankfully I am getting back into playing again for a local drama / music group. I’m not a good teacher myself, but will recommend your resource to anyone who wishes to learn piano. Thank you

  • I have been researching the web trying to find articles about this on Google and the Web. This is very informational for me and thank you.

  • Julie:

    Hi Andrew,
I never comment/post anything on the web usually. However, I felt compelled to thank you for your time and effort in teaching piano lessons to as many people you can reach with no expectations of anything in return. I’ve always wanted to learn the piano since I was a kid and decided to try to learn on my own. In a event of Google serendipitiy I came across your lessons and was pleasantly surprised. So thanks again!
    Peace and Smiles,
    Julie

  • Kelly:

I’ve been expecting to find a teacher for piano lessons for the past two years, I’ve been looking up some courses and talking to some musician friends and stuff, but I never really had the time to actually visit any course at all, since I’m all too busy with school and such. But I’ve been dreaming with this my whole life, literally, learning piano has always been one of my greatest desires. My parents never really gave that much of attention to it, it doesn’t seem like a priority to them, but as you’ve mentioned on one of your videos, piano lessons can improve you mentally, that’s something I forgot to tell them. :)

I’m quite sure I wouldn’t find any better piano teacher than you, and as awkward as it can sound, when I watch your videos it really seems like i’m actually there face-to-face watching one of your classes, right before I say aloud a doubt about something you just said you answer me! Believe me, it’s scary at times, cuz it really seems like you’re listening, are you? :P

You’re just amazing. All I really have to say is thank you, you sure have some great teaching skills some would kill for, not me, I’m happy enough having you as a virtual teacher. ;)

    Thanks for the opportunity.

    Kelly L

  • Hemanth Padmakar:

“Learn Piano” is probably one of the very few resolutions I make on every 31st December, but could never even start learning, though I have a beautiful piece lying at home. Reason, I couldn’t find a dedicated Piano teacher. Believe me, I’m happy beyond bounds now, having found your videos on youtube. Thank you so much for your awesome style of teaching. I’m quite confident of achieving the feat before this December 31. God bless you.

Hey Andrew! i just started taking your music theory lessons. just completed lesson one. I have a little familiarity with theory…but i really want to get a decent knowledge as i have not ‘learned’ anything in a long time. i’ve completed 8 grades of practical exams in the keyboard course of trinity college london but have little or no knowledge of theory. so i guess this course will help me out a lot. a BIG thanks for this great work!! I still can’t believe you’ve taken such a huge effort! Congratulations!!

  • Charlene:

  • Jamie Belanger:

Hi Andrew, I been watching and learning piano from you for awhile now and am very grateful to have you in my life! Your a very intelligent man and I enjoy learning from you, anyways i was thinking and hoping that you hit your record button while doing these you tube vids and making dvd’s also, although we get it free on you tube, you should also be able to profit from your talents in dvd’s!!! not everyone is online, I know in your heart you want it to be free, but making a small amount that can add up could surly help in anyways! Just A Thought! Just make the dvd’s cost less than everyone eles’s! and everyone can be HAPPY!! From Ontario Canada!!

  • Pear:

hi Andrew. I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful lessons! I am Italian and although we have a fairly good tradition in music here, not everyone gets the chance to have a decent music education (unless you are fortunate enough to attend a conservatory or had parents that sent you to private lesson when you were a kid).
And, of course, like everything else in life, you are not always guaranteed to find a passionate, skilled and nice teacher to learn from…so, thanks for spending some of your time teaching us all around the world!
Probably there won’t be any new Beethoven among us (ok, not me at least :) ), but definetely people more open minded, more clever and more curios about music (and not only music, I think). ciao!
