I think what you are doing is great,i can’t afford piano lessons but unlike some i think music teachers are worth there weight in gold and i think goverments and local councils( i am based in south london, uk) could do a lot more to encourage people with setting up groups (not everything has to be private lessons to learn) and helping with fees for carers , disabled people, people who suffer with depression, war vets, low income, and people who are struggling in general. music is very up lifting, and playing a song or to with freinds even more so. my girl freind has cancer, she was diagnosed april 2009 and i started to learn keyboard in august last year it been a real pick me up. i did music in school and got to grade five on a E flat Tenor horn so i am not a complete novice and i use to play a bit of guitar. until i severd 2 nerves and three tendons in my left hand in 1984 ( i am 48 ) my hand has healed know and i am making slow but positive progress with your videos and various other resoures. my girlfreinds glad the keyboard digitial, and i think the neighbours are as well, i just keep the headphones plugin. my aunt has the real deal an upright piano and i really notices the extra vibration , my aunt been taking lessons for years and she really impressed with my progress.

A big Thanks Andrew oh ps could you possible demonstrate how to do tremolos safely and correctly i am learning fats domino blueberry hill its one of my girlfreind favourites .

I just want to say thank you for what you’re doing here. As a child I wanted to learn to play piano but we could never afford lessons, but my parents did manage to encourage me by accepting an old upright piano that our local church was replacing with a new piano. It was badly out of tune but I played it for hours at a time, and taught myself to play a little by ear. I always wanted to play more and be better but could never afford the lessons. I still can’t but now, at age 45, I have a chance to learn and develop what little talent I discovered in my youth. Words can not express the depth of my gratitude. Thank you!

Hey, I wished to add to your growing list of compliments. I am a high school senior who has been experiencing emotional discord lately and seeking some way to put his self back together. I found that pianos resonate with me and dreamed of playing some of the pieces, bringing it to reality, but I lacked any resources and owe it only to your generosity and devotion that I have begun to learn. I think I will find solace in this music and become a better person for it, and I have you to thank for that.

First of all, thanks for the lessons, very generous of you. Im just learning how to play the keyboard, relying on your lessons and the website of Chuan Chang. In his online book “fundamentals of piano practice” he assets that the Tuck Over method is superior to the Tuck Under method when doing scales and lists a couple reasons why thats so.

I would really appreciate if you could post a video demonstrating the proper technique for the TO method … Thanks!

  • Andrew! Thank you so much! I’m learning a lot from you. Thank you for giving back to the community. Merry Christmas. May you keep God like God keeps you!

Hello Andrew, I learnt music in school – church choir (vocals/guitar). After years of full time employment overseas and India, I decided to give up this stressed up work and take to music. My wife supported my move, as we’d done some duets together, since she’s very involved with music. She encouraged me by gifting me a Piano, a Roland Juno Di keyboard and acoustic guitars, to pursue music. I chanced upon your site and have taken your piano tutorial & music theory seriously. With this, I hope to teach the less privileged music in India. Thanks to your piano tutorial on youtube, it’s helping me in my endeavour. Best. Eugene.
